The standard Koroseal Wallcoverings are protected with Koroklear water-based coating. This coating not only aids in the stain resistance and cleanability of the wallcovering but does so in an environmentally safe manner. Stains should be removed as quickly as possible to eliminate any possible reaction between the staining agent and the wallcovering. (Not as critical with products coated with Teflon film.) Time is especially important for removing materials containing colors or solvents such as ball point ink, nail polish, lipstick, oil shampoo tints, paint, lacquer or enamel and some foodstuffs.

Precautions:

Excess soiling materials such as chewing gum, asphalt, crayon, paint, nail polish or tar should be carefully scraped off prior to other cleaning attempts.

Cleaning:

The normal cleaning of Koroseal Wallcoverings should be done with mild ingredients such as soap detergent and water. If stained and stronger cleaning is required, the use of a liquid household cleaner (ex. Lestoil) should be used. Metallic Finishes can be discolored with the use of caustic cleaners and we recommend only the use of a mild soap solution for cleaning of these products. If stronger cleaning is required, first evaluate the cleaner in an inconspicuous location. The method of cleaning should be to use a natural sponge and the mild soap solution. A natural sponge's construction does the best job of removing dirt from the textured surface. With difficult to remove deposits, the use of a soft bristle brush is recommended. Then rinse thoroughly with clean clear water, changing water often to insure it remains clean and clear. After cleaning an area be sure to dry with an absorbent cloth so it can be examined to assure complete cleaning. Never mix cleaning reagents together - violent reactions may occur which could result in serious injury. Observe all label precautions when using these and any cleaning agents. Repeated use of stronger cleaners will extract plasticizer from vinyl wallcoverings causing the wallcovering to lose its suppleness.

Koroseal Teflon Protected Patterns

Koroseal patterns protected with Teflon offer the ultimate in stain resistance and cleanability. Teflon is a ETFE film applied to the surface. This film is very resistant to chemicals and, therefore, to staining. It is a premium product and should be used where there is a need for the added stain resistance and cleanability. The normal cleaning is the same as for the Koroklear protected Koroseal patterns and for additional stain removal instructions refer to the table on the back page.

Important care before using writing surface: Clean the surface thoroughly with a non-abrasive household cleaner, such as a glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Once cleaned, completely rinse the surface with clean water. The water rinse will remove any residue left behind by the cleaning agent. Dry with a clean soft cloth.

1. Use EXPO® brand for optimal performance.
2. Remove dry erase markings with a chalkboard type felt eraser for best results. Press firmly when erasing, using a circular motion. Change erasers as they become dirty. Dirty erasers will leave ink residue on the surface. Warning: The hard plastic edges of Sanford EXPO type erasers may scratch the surface of the dry erase surface. If using the embossed dry erase surface, be sure to use a whiteboard/chalkboard bristle eraser for best results. Normal felt erasers do not reach deep enough into the bi-directional lenticular surface.
3. High gloss dry erase surfaces offer excellent dry erasability; as the gloss level decreases so may the total effectiveness of dry erasing. If using the EXPO 2 markers, additional cleaning with water and a soft cloth may be required. If ghosting occurs, wipe the board with a soft cloth dampened with water. Ghosting is the term used to describe any faint remnant of marker left on the board after dry erasing.
4. For daily cleaning, or as needed, rinse the surface with water. This may be done with a soft cloth or sponge. Dry the surface with a soft cloth prior to writing. Low odor markers similar to EXPO 2 may require more frequent cleansing.
5. If the recommendation in step 4 does not remove marks, use EXPO dry erase spray cleaner. Once the material is clean, rinse the surface with water and dry with a soft cloth.
6. For stubborn stains, use a paint/stain remover such as Goof Off®. Apply to a soft cloth, blot and/or rub gently over the stained area. After the stain has been removed, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Follow the paint/stain remover manufacturer’s precautions before using.

Caution:

Do not use ballpoint pens or other sharp pointed instruments on the dry erase surface. Erasers with sharp edges or plastic housing may scratch the dry erase surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners on the dry erase surface. Permanent marker may be removed with EXPO dry erase cleaner or by writing over the markings with a dry erase marker.
