| For example, you have a square room that has 4 walls that are each 12 feet long. The room has an 8 foot high ceiling. The perimeter of the room is then 12 feet times 4 walls or 48 feet in wall length. Entering 48 in the perimeter field and 8 feet in the height field gives a needed area of 384 square feet or one roll (29 yards) of wallcovering. As you can see, this simple calculation does not subtract the area for any doors or windows. Excess wallcovering from the roll can be used for repair, mis-cuts, window treatments, hobby projects, shelf lining, etc. These yardage amounts do not allow for waste caused by pattern repetition. A ten percent waste factor is a good figure to consider; however, a matching pattern with a large repeat would require additional material compared to a random pattern that doesn't require a match. All customers should be aware of the pattern, width, and match before ordering the final quantity. |
